About me
My name is Sam, and I have worked in education for the last 9 years. I spent 5 years teaching secondary English in the public K-12 setting. After the classroom, I spent 3 years as a Post-Secondary Success Specialist, doing all things college and career readiness at a high school in FWISD. My favorite part of this job was establishing an ECHS school-within-a-school model and watching students do far more than I ever did in high school. I have worked for UT Austin's OnRamps since October 2023, and I love being able to provide advanced academic opportunities that are compassionate, rigorous, and organized. I believe that advanced academics can be an integral part of human flourishing and living a life that brings hope for a better future.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three kids. We often find ourselves engaged in the adventures of homesteading. On our one-acre property, we raise chickens, pigs, cultivate vegetables, and are establishing fruit trees. The work keeps us busy, but being in touch with nature this closely refreshes and restores us.
